Queen Elizabeth Theater Vancouver
RE: Civic Theatres Sound System Upgrades
Over the past three years, Vancouver Civic Theatres and Allstar have been working together on upgrading the sound systems at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the Vancouver Playhouse, and the Orpheum Theatre. During this time, we have purchased and installed approximately two million dollars’ worth of audio equipment through Allstar Show Industries, including Meyer, QSC, Soundcraft, and other manufacturer’s products.
The Allstar staff have always responded promptly and courteously to our needs starting with the quotation/bidding phase, through installation, and including warranty issues arising well after the equipment is installed, from 150000.00 items down to $600 items.
I look forward to continuing our relationship with Allstar Show Industries as we work together to provide the Civic Theatres of Vancouver with the best equipment possible at prices that show responsibility to the taxpayers of Vancouver.
Miles Muir Technical Director
The Orpheum Theatre is 2900 seat auditorium that is home to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Allstar completed major acoustic renovations, and a new sound system was installed.
The new system includes Meyer Sound loudspeakers in five main arrays and 25 Meyer Sound speakers used as under balcony fills and as lip fill speakers. The rigging system also provided custom finishes for their equipment to meet the requirements of the historical review committee.
QSC amplifiers drive the system and Klark Technik and BSS were used for signaal processing to complete the main reinforcement system.
To achieve optimum performance, the system was set up using Meyer Sounds’ SIM system. Total time from receipt of order to first performance in the theatre was less than eight weeks.
